Speed: Cruise Control

Being an 'excuse- aholic' sometimes, I always think of excuses before embarking on something. Lack of confident maybe? Or just my weak personality? Came PD half marathon, my excuses should I did worse was: my shoes were yet to be conditioned. Even on the day itself, another excuse was ... raining.

The long shower lasted through out the race, I must admit, my pants was wet, but not by me. It got stronger a while, weaker sometimes, and wind was kind of pushing me off my track. Not to mention pools and puddles of mud with occasionally cars driving into them. Splash!

There was no need to slow down for water station nor sponge station, we were all constantly hydrated. Air was crispy cool all the time, each intake counteracted the hot blood rushing to the lungs, sending fresh oxidised blood to the heart. Efficiency was up by 10% or more!

Yet there was no euphoric- orgasm feeling for the whole journey. Must remember to wear a non- absorbant- sleeveless shirt next time. Part of the road I was shirtless, I'd always wanted to do that. No police chasing after me for obscenity, hahaha!

After 10 km, the race was about how strong one's mind is. Training was good, but mind is more important. Knowing the fact I'd done it once, I could do it again, helped. It's always hard to start something, not so hard to keep it going, but kind of hard to go faster. That, was Newton's Law.

It was again the jubilant moment to cross the finishing line, even more exciting to get a meddle, and utterly astonished to learn that the time was 2 hours 8 minutes! My personal best! Phew...

So there was no need to use any excuse, but to train harder. It'll be a whole new experience when I'm back on the treadmills, knowing what I'm capable of. Next: breaking the 4km within 20mins barrier!
